Shop drawings that come back approved

A shop drawing is the last document between a design and a fabricator cutting material. We produce them for steel, millwork, glazing, stairs and mechanical trades, dimensioned from the contract documents and formatted the way the reviewing architect expects to receive them.

Drawn from the contract set, not around it

Every dimension traces back to a sheet and a detail in the permit set. Where the contract documents conflict with each other — and on a renovation they usually do — the conflict is raised as an RFI before fabrication rather than discovered on site, which is the difference between a two-day answer and a two-week remake.

Formatted for the approval stamp

Submittal-ready packages: title block, revision cloud and delta, submittal number, and a transmittal listing what changed since the last round. Reviewers reject packages for missing information far more often than for wrong geometry, so the paperwork is treated as part of the drawing.

Common questions

What is the difference between shop drawings and permit drawings?
Permit drawings prove a design complies with code and earn the building department’s approval. Shop drawings translate that approved design into fabrication instructions for one trade: exact dimensions, connections, materials and finishes. A permit set is filed once; shop drawings are issued per assembly, per submittal round.
How long does a shop drawing package take?
A single-assembly package is typically three to five business days from receipt of the approved contract documents. Multi-trade packages on an occupied renovation take longer, because the field measurement has to be scheduled around the building’s use.
Do you work directly with fabricators?
Yes. Most of this work comes from fabricators and specialty contractors rather than from owners, and the drawings are produced in whatever CAD format the shop’s machinery consumes.
